Fajr festival names Best Film, ‘Lost Strait’

Iranian epic film ‘The Lost Strait’ has won the Best Film Crystal Simorgh at the 36th Fajr Film Festival.

The drama about an epic battle by Iranian combatants during the last days of the 1980-1988 Iraq-imposed war on Iran won the Best Film prize during the Fajr closing ceremony in the Iranian capital city of Tehran on Sunday night.

‘The Lost Strait’ director, Bahram Tavakkoli, received the Crystal Simorgh for Best Director for this film.

The film also brought the Crystal Simorgh prize for respective contributors, including Best Sound Recording to Rashid Daneshmand, Best Make Up to Saeed Malekan and Best Special Effects to Mohsen Ruzbehani.

Established in 1982, the Fajr Film Festival celebrates cultural exchange, displays creative achievements of highly acclaimed cineastes and pays tribute to local and international films.

Supervised by Iran’s Ministry of Culture, the festival hosts veteran directors and new filmmakers from Iran and across the world every year.
